my little house in the big woods. can you tell i love where i live? it's a 1600 sq. ft. doublewide, 14 years old, on six acres-all wooded. we moved here 8 years ago from a 960 sq. foot cape on a 1/5 acre lot in a subdivision in nj. i always dreamed of living in the country (i grew up right outside nyc) i wanted to live on a farm as long as i could remember.
i married and we lived in an apartment right alongside the garden state parkway in nj. 10 lanes of traffic! we bought our first house in western nj right along the delaware river. it was nice, but not enough space to breathe.
we decided to uproot our almost grown up family and move to maine. we had never been up here before. me from nj. husband from ma. knowing no one, having no jobs, having a bit of $ and the $ from our house in nj. we just moved here and trusted God and knew as long as we were all together we would be fine.
my husband left a job that earned him $24 an hour plus full benefits--UPS (he is vested for retirement so we have that to look forward to)
we now make around $9 an hour or so each. and. we. are. so. happy!!!
it was scary, but we didn't want to regret not doing something different just because it was scary.
we have built an awesome life here and 8 years later we are still loving every minute of it.
just thought that might encourage someone else who might be wishing they were somewhere else! i now live in my somewhere else. it's not a farm, but it is country and spacious and quiet and we can breathe!
